Kettle for hot water without boiling Printer Friendly Version
The kettle is a household staple, used daily to boil water for hot drinks. Yet many of the most popular drinks around e.g. coffee and green tea, require hot but not boiling water. As boiling water burns these drinks, the kettle in its current design doesn't cater for them. I would like to see a kettle with the extra option to just heat the water until just below boiling.

Removable Microwave Stomach Printer Friendly Version
The inside of a microwave is always dirty! It is also one of the hardest things to clean. It would be a lot easier to clean if the microwave had a removable stomach, or liner, that was dishwasher safe.

Back Up Refrigerator Battery Printer Friendly Version
It's simple, what happens when the power goes out? You can't open your refrigerator because you'll let all the cool air escape. Correct? What we need is a back up battery for them. It charges all day and night while its plugged in and when there is an emergency like a storm and your power goes out you still have access to your food and water by having that back-up battery kick in.

Water Displacement Printer Friendly Version
I was boiling an egg this morning and it took quite a lot of water to fill up the pan before the surface of the egg was all covered. It seems like such a waste of water because the egg is so small, and I thought to myself that having some kind of water displacement device for this sort of thing might come in handy in the kitchen. (I've seen a water displacement object for the bath, which I think is fantastic, something along these lines for the kitchen) It needs to be heavy (or maybe magnetic?) so that it doesn't float, but not so heavy that whatever you're using it with is un-liftable/un-pourable. A lot of kitchen equipment is being made in silicone recently - it's obviously very heat resistant, and it's good with food because it doesn't smell, so I thought that would be a good material to use for this.
You could have different sizes with the amount of water capacity it takes up written on them or something. I get the feeling there could be various things this could be used for, I can't think of that many right off the bat, but it would also be useful for a teapot if you're only having a few brews. especially if you're using one of those ones with a built in infuser. (I think they might be called tea presses)

Minimize Kitchen Counter Dust Bunnies and Gunk Printer Friendly Version
This is an easy solution to an old problem. You know how the crack between your counter top is a graveyard for dust bunnies and uncooked spaghetti? I had an idea today for a stylish solution. Why not accent the stove with customizable "skirts". Basically it would be a wood or other type of surface attached magnetically to the side of the stove.
