3D scanner Printer Friendly Version
Prototype: Make a laser on a tripod with the laser facing down. It scans an area below it with a class 3b laser (like a pen laser). This scan works like a CRT in that it fires a single beam to the top left of the scan area and moves to the right side, drops down and scans right to left and so on until it reaches the bottom where it reverses and scans back up. A sensor reads the distance from the laser to the topography being scanned and produces a 3D computer image in a CAD program. Scan all six sides from three angles each and create a perfect reproduction of the objects volume in 3D space wire frame. Let another sensor (probably a CCD) read the color, illumination, contrast etc, and let the computer apply this information to the wire frame 3D object scanned with the laser like paint.
Finished product: Removing the tripod and holding the 3D camera like a camera, scan any object in range and copy its exact dimensions. My thoughts were to use this to quickly add 3D content to 3D based games to avoid the creation process used today or if you needed a manufacturer to make a copy of something, you could scan it and e-mail the info very quickly.

Flexable Circular Rubber Springing Sling-Shot Printer Friendly Version
A sling shot that is completely round and made of a very thin, strong rubber, in any color, that is centered just like a Native American drum toy. Tied to a outer, plastic, round circle then, attached to a rubber sling with a plastic handle to hold onto for that added spring. You simply pull back on a rubber handle, attached to the back of the rubber circle center and let go. With the rubber center and the partial rubber handle you have twice the power in slinging objects that you trap in the center of the sling shot and when it is in the center of the sling-shot it is more accurate than the usual sling shot because it doesn't move from side to side but, just from back to forward which, will send it straight out instead of to the side, even slightly. This sling has two properties. It has the rubber, circular, center that will be extremely effective in shooting out anything fast and accurate and the partial, upper, handle that, attaches to the sling on top and a hard plastic handle at the bottom for maximum velocity and spring action. Easy to make, cheap and can be made to have different strengths so that, you could even make a weak one for kids in the house for nurf balls or shooting paper balls. You can even make one strong enough to shoot hundreds of yards. Many uses and for all ages.

Recycling Momma! Printer Friendly Version
We are the richest nation in the world. Even in the poorest neighborhoods routinely people (and mainly women/mothers) discard clothing. This is as a result of cleaning out a closet or a child's dresser due to that child outgrowing their clothes. More often then not the lot of clothes is clean and in good repair. After all, it is coming straight from a closet or dresser. In stead of taking these things to a thrift store or shelter usually we are too busy so we just throw it away. The idea is to have people label these bags...red for women's clothes, blue for men's clothes, pink for girl and powder blue for boy--trite but effective. The trash bag with these clothes could be placed on the curb the day before trash pick up. If anyone can use them, they are free to pick up the entire bag. They can then take what they like, pass on the rest, take it to a thrift store or shelter or discard same.
Rules would be simple: Bags would have a size written in appropriate color. Bags put out for the recycle would contain only clean clothes in good repair. Pick up would be allowed only during day light hours. Pick up would not be allowed for picking through clothes on the street. The landfills would get a break and we would be passing on and sharing a huge resource. Our interdependence would be supported. This would require a grassroots effort. Note: even if these bags were regularly picked up by people using them to make a profit, it would be better served then going into the ground.
