Apple sells a product called the "Airport Express". It is a wireless networking node. You can plug your computer into it to join the network OR you can plug in a pair of speakers - this is called "Air tunes". iTunes allows you to stream music to multiple Airport Express nodes.
My idea is to create a boom-box that has an Airport Express built into it.
Right now you have to take your speakers or boom-box and your Airport Express to your listening spot. You plug the Airport Express into a wall outlet, then plug your Airport Express into your boom-box. If your boom-box needs to use A/C power, you have to plug that into the wall, too.
By merging these two pieces of equipment, you have a single box that can go anywhere in your house and you just plug it in. iTunes will find it and send music to it.
If you have an iPod Touch or iPhone with the Remote application you can control iTunes remotely as well.
There are a number of devices you can plunk an iPod into and have speakers. This is different and, I think, pretty simple to build for someone familiar with electronics. I don't think you'd even need to disassemble the Airport Express.

Plastic bottle caps with built-in straws Printer Friendly Version
I would like to see bottle caps for soda bottles (20 oz size) that have a built-in spill-proof straw. These could be sold in multiple quantity packs at places like Walmart, maybe even make them disposable (but dishwasher safe in case we wanna be cheap!).
The main reason I want this is because I have a 15 month old and we always leave the house and forget his sippy cup (actually spill-proof straw cups - he never would take a sippy cup). How great it would be to just stop at a gas station, buy a 20 oz. water (we don't let him drink soda!), put on the universal bottlecap straw thingy, and give it to him.
Also consider that many people prefer to drink from a straw - but have you ever tried to put a straw in a 20 oz. bottle? It falls inside just below the mouth and you have to use your finger to pull it back up. This product would also be great for atheletes as an alternative to the gatorade sports bottle drinks - and think about all the different beverages that are sold in the standard 20 oz bottles.
Oh yeah - if this product already exist s- somebody please tell me where I can buy it!
Reward: A lifetime supply that I can stash in my car's glove compartment!

Single Piece Recyclable Computer Case Printer Friendly Version
Computer cases have two obvious problems. First they are not recyclable (or made from recycled material) and secondly they come in many pieces and parts and are made from various materials. Metal & Non-recyclable computer cases fill our landfills everyday with toxins.
My ideal case would be some form of injection-molded (from recyclable or recycled plastic) single piece case which could house the main computer components.
Allowances would need to be made for case cooling as well as a hinge/closure mechanism to allow easy access of internal components.
I worked for a plastic-folder manufacturer several years ago that had developed CD/DVD binders that where 100% recyclable, so if a simple design could be worked out I believe this would help reduce the strain on the environment, and eventually reduce the price of computers plus the would come in some really COOL COLORS!
Making this one single piece would allow these to be manufactured by the gazillion for little $$ once the initial molding & setup has been paid for.
I have not seen anything like (a single piece case) on the net; please let me know if you find something similar or have some ideas.
Reward: A few of these in various colors.
