Child protection location device Printer Friendly Version
During the last few months there has been a rush of child abductions in the U.K. Most of these cases conclude in quite tragic circumstances. A case this week in Cambridge, which involved two ten-year-old friends, led me to the following idea.
The police didn’t pursue a case of abduction until three days had passed. By this time the children could be anywhere.
I don't want to be seen as profiteering on these tragedies nor do I wish to use scare tactics in advertising, but the truth is technology is available today that, with a little adapting, can save a lot of time and lives and in some cases prevent this sort of thing happening altogether.
Allot of us have cars with GPS location or tracking. There are even battery powered personal location devices available on the market. Pets are fitted with id chips, criminals are tagged, and yet the most precious commodity that the human race can produce is left to fend for itself. There is a global market of children who need to be protected, and we can do something about it.
What would it take to develop these devices for the protection of our children?

Insight on the outside Printer Friendly Version
People who stay in apartments/houses/anywhere with boring, depressing or even ugly views through their windows, will benefit from this. A tranquill forest scene or a sandy beach with the usual scenery, there are millions of suitable pictures. Place these pics: Size to extend past window's edges, in an advertising sign board type of frame. Attach this to the wall outside the window, so that the view from inside is now the picture you chose. What if you get bored with that picture? Well remember the old cameras with their roll of film? Use the same concept inside the frame i.e.: a tube on either side of the frame with the picture running across the window from tube to tube. Take it even further. Put a daylight sensitive switch or a timer on the invention, and fill the tubes with 30 different pics on a roll, a new one each day, which automatically changes because of your timer. Wouldn't you like to see a beautiful sunrise over the sea when you open your curtains? OR a tiger drinking water from a mountain stream? The list is endless.
Reward: Send me the blue print of the machine, so that I can have one built for myself.

Domains For Sale  Printer Friendly Version
Domains names can be registered for varying periods of time - 1 year, 2 years or 10 years. When the registration period expires, the original owner can re-register it or failing that it enters the public domain where it is then sold on a first come, first served basis. Many sites cater for this expired domain market, which indicates that there is a huge demand for them.
For somebody whose name was about to expire and who had been unable to sell it on some form of return, however small that might be would probably be welcome. A site could therefore be set up dedicated to selling names whose registration had 2 months or less to run. The names could be sold on a sliding scale basis, starting at $50 for 8 weeks to go and reducing by $5 for every week thereafter.
A ready market would exist for both buyer and seller. The buyer would gain a name very cheaply before it enters the public domain whilst the seller would salvage something from his original investment. Profits from the site could be derived from advertising revenues or from charging a small fee for each transaction. I am unaware that any company is providing this service.
Reward: Donate some or all of your profits to charity
