Choice of book cover colors Printer Friendly Version
I just picked up Neil Gaiman's Smoke and Mirrors - great book, but the cover is purple, with silver lettering, giving it the aura of a cheap supermarket romance novel. How am I supposed to read that on the subway? (See? This really is a traffic-related idea...)
A couple years ago, Filth (Irvine Welsh) came out in a choice of blue, green, yellow, and pink covers. Why can't choices like this be available for all books? Even better, design a machine that will allow you to apply your choice of color to a blank cover, with a stencil to cover lettering and pictures.
Reward: Smoke and Mirrors in green, please.

Anti RoboCall Phone Printer Friendly Version
I hate getting robocalls from telemarketers. I wish someone would build an answering machine that won't ring the phone if the caller is not listed in your address book.
You would enter the names and phone numbers of all your friends and relatives (well, most of them). Then the device would check the caller ID with the phone numbers in the list. If the caller is on the list, the phone would ring normally. If the caller is not on the list, the phone would not ring at all. Instead, it would take a message. It would be a bonus if the device would also display a list of all the phone numbers received that were not in your address book. That way, you could quickly scan them and delete them instead of listening to each one.

Doppelganger Locator Printer Friendly Version
An interface allowing people to find many others who are lookalikes (or nearly lookalikes) of themselves, and then enable them to compare notes with each other re: possible shared tendencies/tastebuds/etc. It could enable people to upload images of themselves whereupon a 'Face Recognition Bot' would guide them in dragging their JPEG to an area of other JPEGs most closely matching their image in an array.
A numeric equivalent to such an array is:
11 12 22 23 33 34 44
45 55 56 66 67 77 78
This was inspired by Nancy Segal's book about twins separated at birth - Entwined Lives
Reward: Satisfying my curiosity. If such a site were created, people would be enabled to discover the not-as-yet explored aspect missing from the book Entwined Lives. That is: Do non-related lookalikes share similar tendencies, tastebuds, etc. just as identical twins do? E.g. even if they're not "supposedly" related, nevertheless, maybe their genes are related?
