Thumb drive notification when you try to log out Printer Friendly Version
I've done it before, and I imagine you might have too. You plug in your USB drive into the USB port and open up your work, spend ages working on it, save. Log out. Walk away.
...which is fine, if you're at home. But I'm a school student, and a number of times I have left my thumb drive in a school computer, or seen it happen to other people. Sometimes, you get it back. Other students are not so honest.
The problem is, if you lose the USB drive, you use the work on it as well, either temporarily or permanently. The logical thing to do would be to back it up, but we're not perfect, and I (and probably others) never do.
I have seen programs (although I've never used them) that display a warning when you power off your computer/put it into standby, telling you that your USB drive is still in the computer. However, there are two problems with this (for my intended use, anyway):
1. At school (I'm a student) we don't turn off the computers at the end of each class. Instead, we simply log off so the next person may use the computer. The warning would never appear.
2. From what I've seen, these programs are installed on the computer itself, rather than being stored on the USB drive. We have over 100 computers and you can never be sure which one you're going to be using. Clearly the program needs to be stored on the USB drive, NOT the computer you plug it into.
So, what I'm suggesting: A small program that runs from your USB drive and, when it is still plugged into the computer and you try to log off, it displays a notification something along the lines of, "Wait a minute, don't leave me behind!"
(If anybody know of something like this, PLEASE let me know!)
Reward: Free use of this program and clear instructions on how to make it work if it's not just a simple app.

Virtual shopping homework with your 3D image Printer Friendly Version
We have on-line shopping sites where you can see the products and place an order. When buying clothes we always spend sometime checking the fitting and matching the colours of tops with bottoms etc.. With that foreword I want to present my idea: My idea is to take a full-size image of a person and have software convert it into a reasonable 3D image (we can ask the user for some other parameters such as height, waist and other bio-stats).
Once this is done, as part of the one-time registration process, you are ready with a digital YOU. Next the software service enables you to try various brands of clothes available. It renders it more or less exactly as it would look if you wear it. It also takes care to show the sag in the shirt if you choose a shirt of bigger size. The software service would follow certain specifications which would allow this virtual reality to be realised. The specifications would be used for both creating the virtual users while rendering the clothes on the virtual users.
After the user freezes on certain clothes, he can get the item code of the product. He can either order it on-line or print the report generated after he freezes the clothes. The report would have the item code and the addresses of the shops where these clothes are available. These shops are listed in the order of their distance from the users place.
Reward: getting it realized would be one BIG reward

Adult Social Networking Printer Friendly Version
This would be a social networking site targeted at adults and professionals, generally people from ages 25 and up. It would have all of the features of Facebook such as a network system, groups, events, photos, etc., but people would also put their jobs, professional skills, or even a resume if they were looking for a job. Companies could pay to do power searches for people, but for people to join would be completely free.
This website would be a mix of LinkedIn and Facebook. It's like LinkedIn in that people can find jobs and make connections. It's unlike LinkedIn, and like facebook in that it would be completely free and you can search for anyone, but you can only see very little information until you friend them - but you can friend people. LinkedIn only allows you to friend people in your networks unless you pay. And again it's like LinkedIn and unlike facebook in that it's targeted at professionals and not students, and there would be no News Feed (it records everything everyone does and shows everyone else).
I see a future where every single professional has his or her network of contacts online, business and personal, and can find people and communicate extremely efficiently and easily. If you meet someone in line somewhere, or on an elevator, or at a convention, all you need is their name and you could find them on this site. You would be connected to your co-workers or your independent contractors, or even your employees through this site. People would find it strange if you weren't on there. But the thing that would have to make this work is it's target of professionals and adults, and probably a little Web 2.0 hype mixed in.
Reward: A spot on the board
