More efficient, humane work schedule Printer Friendly Version
- 30 hour work week is standard. Jobs would offer both a 5AM to 11AM shift or a 1PM to 7PM shift. (Restaurants, bars would have different shifts.)

- Traffic on roads reduced as there are half the commuters on road at same time (except at lunch time).

- Families wouldn't need daycare. One worker in morning shift, other in evening.

- Go-getters, renaissance people can manage having two full-time jobs in completely different fields.

- Stores are open when you're not working.

- Greater worker efficiency, satisfaction (fewer hours, better work).

- Lunch can be enjoyed at home as family.

- Businesses are open for longer hours, making it easier to get things done, across multiple time zones.

- People can enjoy a good part of the daylight hours.

- Companies need less rental space for same job.
Reward: My choice of shifts. A holiday called Bluecube Day.

Citywide geothermal heat pumps Printer Friendly Version
The most efficient means of heating a house is by using geothermal heat pumps. Check the link below:

http://www.eere.energy.gov/RE/geo_heat_pumps.html.
The air going into your house runs through an underground tube, and becomes warmer. I.E. less energy required to get the air warmer. Heat pumps are kind of expensive to build, and it takes about 5 years for the energy savings to pay for the initial cost. Most people move within 5 years so the incentive isn't there to install them. City lots are mostly too small for geothermal heat pumps, so city governments should automatically install them under streets just like sewers. Homeowners would just plug into the common heat exchanger, and heating/cooling costs/energy use would decrease dramatically.
Reward: I'd like a city to name a park Bluecube Park.

Anti-smoking perfume Printer Friendly Version
The problem to be solved: There are a lot of places where people are supposed not to smoke, e.g. public transportation, McDonalds, cinemas, shopping malls, public toilets, etc. However, there are always smokers they are nuts and do not respect other people's right at all. They simply ignore the rules and keep smoking. For the time being, there is not much we (people don't like passive smoking or don't like the smell) can do. These few culprits smokers can also cause a lot of damages, e.g. fire.
The solution: Can some big chemical manufacturers invent some anti-smoke perfume which can be spread publicly. The perfume is as fragrant as other French perfume and does not cause harm to anyone. However, if anyone tries to smoke under the perfumed environment, the chemical will simply react with the dust and narcotine and cause the smoker nausea and unwell and force the smoker to stop smoking immediately. I think it is a great idea and is totally commercially viable because I am sure a lot of the airlines companies, shopping malls management, cinema operators etc. will buy this anti-smoking perfume.
Reward: More fresh air and more mutual respect
