Nice & cold Printer Friendly Version
Suppose you take a beer or soda out of the fridge, it feels cold but you're not sure.

But you noticed something really neat on the side of the can: The distributer, may it be pepsi or Budweiser has installed, right onto the side of the can a simple yet effective thermometer. And it tells you your beverage is cold, and ready to drink.

Clean Air Printer Friendly Version
This idea sort of falls under environment, but I bet more people would look at it here, so here she goes.
Busses travel in most cities for at least 15 hours of the day. During that time the bus may cover up to 300km. A filter placed on the roof of the bus would see a fair amount of air in one of those days. For example, if the dimensions of the filter were 2.5 x .5 meters then in the course of the day one bus could filter approximately 250,000 cubic meters of air. Filters could be washed and pellets made of the dirt collected. These pellets could be disposed of properly. This would make the cities a cleaner place. The governments could subsidies the bus companies and every one would be happy.

Elementary student cooks Printer Friendly Version
My children are fortunate enough, thank God, to be served food at school but being picky, children do not always eat the food and a lot ends up being wasted. Why not make cooking lunch into a course (maybe a few classes could rotate days) - it could even be a hands on way to learn math, nutrition, science, social studies (about various culture's foods), etc.
