Snappy Socks Printer Friendly Version
If matching socks isn't bad enough, how frustrating is it when you find 2-3 socks with no mates.
My idea is to attach a snap to each sock. Before you throw your socks into the hamper, simply snap them together. The socks will stay attached through the washer and dryer. (I've actually made some, and it does work.) The snaps could be colored to match the sock or have the companies name or symbol on it, such as the Nike swoosh.
I've found two drawbacks:

*Will the other people in your home take the extra two seconds to snap the socks together? (Questionable in my household)

*The sock companies may lose some sales if people aren't losing their socks as much.
Reward: A lifetime supply, to make my life easier. And an instruction manual on how to work a snap for the others in my home!

Telepresence Hologram Printer Friendly Version
Commuting to work requires too much time. It would be nice if I could have a telepresence hologram that I could walk around the office with. It would give me audio and video and I could use it to type my commands onto the computer at work. For example, if I type something on my computer at home the telepresence would enter it in the computer at work.
The hologram would be an image of me in a dress suit (even if I'm in my underpants) and could stand or sit, and if I desire, imitate my own movements at home. I could go to meetings and the hologram would sit in a chair and talk and look around the room. I could perhaps even have greater scope of vision because I could use the telepresence hologram to look in all directions.
This invention would save millions of hours in commuting time.
Reward: A free telepresence hologram would be nice so I could use it at work.

Open Sesame - auto garage door opener Printer Friendly Version
Problem: I gotta push da button when I get home to open my garage door. Why?
Solution: It seems, with the ready availability of wireless controls that my car can tell my garage door to open (and close). When I drive home, approach the garage, and get close enough that it's pretty obvious I'm going in, the garage door can open. Technically it's no challenge - we have wireless openers - we just need the car to automatically transmit the open command. We have key controls to unlock our, and only our, car - so we can have secure openers. The opener can also be smart enough to close the door when you leave.
While I'm at it, I want a smarter, wireless car interface - but that's another posting.
Reward: Just to know how much happier the world is.
