Wireless Broadcasting of TV channels Printer Friendly Version
Why not have a TV receiver that can simultaneously translate up to 20 channels and send them wirelessly AKA broadcast them to the other TV's in the home. Room A wants to watch channel 2. Room A tunes their TV to channel 2 and the TV transmits to the receiver telling it to broadcast channel 2, therefore allowing the TVs in any room to receive channel 2. Up to 20 different TVs could tell the receiver to transmit a different channel. This would allow the simultaneous recording/watching of up to 20 channels in different rooms.
In addition allow any one TV to ask the receiver for up to five channels (for viewing and for recording), allowing you to record four channels simultaneously while being free to watch your TV program in real time all on one TV set.
If four TVs were each recording their max. of four unique channels and each of the four were displaying a unique program in real time, this would mean the receiver was broadcasting its maximum 20 unique channels.
Do I watch too much TV? No, but all the good stuff is on at the same time!

Carpet Pad Insulation Printer Friendly Version
I have lived in several concrete slab houses where the floors are always cold. I believe that a carpet manufacture could come up with an insulating carpet pad that would allow retrofitting of floor insulation into all these houses. The second part would be to come up with an electrically heated pad, much like an electric blanket to install in these types of houses. It would lie under the carpet, that would give it some protection from abrasion. The rest of the protection would come in the form of heavy wire insulation. It might be expensive to heat a whole house this way, but it would be good for small areas such as bathroom or living room. It could even be produced in a small portable throw rug type, waterproof of course, for use in a bath room.

Handicapped Assist Device Printer Friendly Version
Both my partner and my sister are handicapped and have issues staying upright. When they fall they fall and don't have the muscle power to get themselves back up without a great deal of struggle and/or assistance. I thought it would be a good idea to have a way for someone who falls to power themselves up somehow. I'm not talking about a power winch, I'm thinking of something simple and inexpensive that can be available in each room of a house as an emergency assist device. What I think is that some of the climbing devices used for rock wall climbing or similar items could be useful for someone who is just trying to 1. get to a sitting position, then 2. get to a standing position. I thought about ropes installed in room corners, or something along those lines .. or some sort of double-cane system that can pull a person up without backing down.
