Double Lid/Disk Pressure Release Microwave Container Printer Friendly Version
Microwave-safe plastic containers that have a sealed edge with top attached to a bottom but, with a second lid or plastic disk covering a hole that would pop up when the pressure or steam was too great which would allow you to heat and steam your food and left-overs without a blow-up of the lid from the bottom container. This would protect your microwave from mess and not have to use the cancer causing plastic wrap that melts on your food but, allows fast heating with a proper cover.
The double lid or disk covers a hole that simply releases pressure only when it gets too great but comes back down to help continuous heat. The disk has a disk on the inside too but, the hole is bigger than the center that connects both the inner and outer disk so it would have a larger hole for the pressure release. With a container like this it is possible to cook all foods including raw eggs. Try that with out a lid! It would explode. I have done the research on the eggs and all foods keep their nutrients with steaming rather than just heating. You could add a place in the container for water to help steam your food products. Non explosive cooking and non-toxic like plastic wrap covers. All around better, more effective cooking from your speedy microwave.

Full Light Range Cameras Printer Friendly Version
All cameras have a limited amount of defintion, clarity, and details in images, due to the fact that definition in different light ranges disappear when in bright or dim light. In dim light all bright definition is lost and in bright light you can't see any defintion in the dark areas. I propose that we create cameras (still or movie) that can capture all definition, clarity, and details in all light ranges and conditions (dark, mid-range, and bright). This would beat plasma screens in resolution and even beat the details picked up and captured by the human eye even with the best vision.
This full light range capture is easy to produce. All cameras are now computerized with Charged Coupled Devices (computer chips) to capture light, details, resolution, clarity, and details instead of mechanical parts of the older type cameras of the past but, the image is captured by only one chip. If we add three of these CCD chips (one for each light range) then we cature the entire image instead of just one light range. Right now your most current technologically advanced cameras capture one range at a time. I did research with camera companies and they are only working on resolution and not light ranges. In other words they are not addressing this issue directly.

Urban Waste Abatement Kit Printer Friendly Version
This would be a good project for an Environmental Science/ Education Student. The physical object is quite simple, but the institution of the system would require much research and involvement.
The actuall object: A backpack that holds a 32oz thermal mug, a set of flatware, and a lenin napkin.
The hard part: One would need to do a cost analysis comparison between cost of waste removal and landfill use to the cost of distributing such a kit to all citizens of any given urban area. My assumption is that it would be very expensive to issue the kits initially, but over time the city/ community would save money from waste removal and landfill usage. The idea is to cut back on paper and styro waste from restaraunts and convenieance stores by issueing every citizen his/her own set of wares. This not only would cut back on the amount of waste, but also on the amount of litter, so there would certainly be an aesthetic value to it also. Businesses may even chose to get involved by offering discounts to patrons who bring in their own cups/ forks/ napkins etc.
I live in a somewhat progressive community, and I've seen many of the indie kids in town allready doing this on their own. I think it is a lovely idea which large urban areas could really put to good use.
Reward: No reward expected. The reward would be inherent in the execution of the idea. If a reward is necessary, perhaps to bail me out of jail the next time I get arrested for peacefull, non-violent demonstration.
