Toys, pets & childrenPrinter Friendly Version
What parent can resist the pleadings of their children? And what do children want the most - toys and pets. A combination toy store/pet store - now if that wouldn't bring in children (& their parents with the cash), I don't know what would. Of course, the pets could only be obtained from reliable, known breeders - no "puppy mills." Also offered could be obedience classes, bicycle safety, "me & my dolly" tea parties, etc.
If this is already being done somewhere, at least it proves I'm not nuts (well - not totally).
Reward: Acknowledgment from the outside world to prove to my family that just perhaps one of my "crackpot" ideas isn't so crackpot after all.

Elementary student cooksPrinter Friendly Version
My children are fortunate enough, thank God, to be served food at school but being picky, children do not always eat the food and a lot ends up being wasted. Why not make cooking lunch into a course (maybe a few classes could rotate days) - it could even be a hands on way to learn math, nutrition, science, social studies (about various culture's foods), etc.
Reward: healthy children

Singles with Children Theme RestaurantPrinter Friendly Version
Dating for single people with children is a real hassle. Making arrangements for the children loads the situation with too much, "it cost too much and I hardly know her." And going out on a date is awfully interesting to the inquiring minds of children. "Going slow" means that you want dates at the begining to be free of too many commitments too.
What I have in mind is an activity space where adults can meet and bring the kids too. So there needs to be a range of activities for kids of various ages so that the parents can be smoose. The roller rink in town where I went to college hit it about right with "adults free with kids' every Saturday mornings before noon. The kids skated while the adults conversed over coffee and breakfast at the snack bar.
I'd call the place "Oh Donna's" after a single friend of mine.
Reward: "A Laurel and Hardy handshake."

Car seat gripes!Printer Friendly Version
Our local law has just passed that a child up to 8 years old and 80 lbs must ride in a childs car seat / booster seat. Hello?!? Has it occured to anyone that in some vehicles such as my SUV that children that old sitting in the back seats that their heads will hit the ceiling of the car? That the car seat sits them too high? So far I don't know of a car seat that will fit securely in the back seat which is angled more than the middle ones. Can't someone invent a way to modify seat belts that would fit older children properly? Otherwise legally we are about to have a third grader who will need to haul his car seat in and out of school every time his afternoon plans don't include mom's picking him up.
Reward: safe children without the hassles.

Child protection location devicePrinter Friendly Version
During the last few months there has been a rush of child abductions in the U.K. Most of these cases conclude in quite tragic circumstances. A case this week in Cambridge, which involved two ten-year-old friends, led me to the following idea.
The police didn’t pursue a case of abduction until three days had passed. By this time the children could be anywhere.
I don't want to be seen as profiteering on these tragedies nor do I wish to use scare tactics in advertising, but the truth is technology is available today that, with a little adapting, can save a lot of time and lives and in some cases prevent this sort of thing happening altogether.
Allot of us have cars with GPS location or tracking. There are even battery powered personal location devices available on the market. Pets are fitted with id chips, criminals are tagged, and yet the most precious commodity that the human race can produce is left to fend for itself. There is a global market of children who need to be protected, and we can do something about it.
What would it take to develop these devices for the protection of our children?

Please contact me for further information.
