Mobile Residential Temperature Control Printer Friendly Version
Have you ever been in bed in the middle of the night and didn't want to get up to turn on the thermostat (heater/ac) in order to maintain a comfortable temperature in the bedroom so that you can have a peaceful night's sleep? Well, with the invention of the mobile thermostat, you will never encounter this dilemma again.
This device is a remote control to the main thermostat in the house that emits an electronic signal to the (main) thermostat basically to control the temperature as recorded by multiple temperature monitors throughout the house that just report the current temperature in each room by sending a signal that identifies the location of that particular monitor and the current temperature in the room. Since most thermostats aren't located in the bedroom and are moreso designed to control temperatures in common areas, my idea is to have electronic vents (also controlled by the remote) that you can open and close at the push of a button. This way, you can warm up the bathroom in the winter without getting up from your bed until it has reached your desired level of comfort.
In addition to electronic vents, you will also need temperature monitors that communicate with the remote and alert you when the desired area has reached the target temperature.
Thus, you will be able to heat and cool one room at a time at your leisure without having to do more than push a button. Also, this will do wonders for energy saving and keeping those energy bills under control.
Reward: Recognition and to own the original prototype.

Friendly Bath Mat Seeking House-Share Printer Friendly Version
A bath mat made from rubber, with hundreds of 15mm tentacles which stick up vertically and cushion/massage the foot whilst draining the excess water away to the base of the mat (much as the latest pub drip trays)... There should then be a removable plug facility in the base so that the water which has drained into the capacity base can be poured away after use. The joy is that the mat may be used by a house-full of people without anyone suffering the soggy bath mat fate of going second etc. AND there are probably reflexology related benefits from the movable tentacles on the sole too. I think a transparent rubber would be cool and you could also do funky 'imac' style colours too as well as a kinky black version?
Reward: Some bath mats as described - various colours and a trip to the factory of origin.

Plastic bottle caps with built-in straws Printer Friendly Version
I would like to see bottle caps for soda bottles (20 oz size) that have a built-in spill-proof straw. These could be sold in multiple quantity packs at places like Walmart, maybe even make them disposable (but dishwasher safe in case we wanna be cheap!).
The main reason I want this is because I have a 15 month old and we always leave the house and forget his sippy cup (actually spill-proof straw cups - he never would take a sippy cup). How great it would be to just stop at a gas station, buy a 20 oz. water (we don't let him drink soda!), put on the universal bottlecap straw thingy, and give it to him.
Also consider that many people prefer to drink from a straw - but have you ever tried to put a straw in a 20 oz. bottle? It falls inside just below the mouth and you have to use your finger to pull it back up. This product would also be great for atheletes as an alternative to the gatorade sports bottle drinks - and think about all the different beverages that are sold in the standard 20 oz bottles.
Oh yeah - if this product already exist s- somebody please tell me where I can buy it!
Reward: A lifetime supply that I can stash in my car's glove compartment!
