Rubber band car Printer Friendly Version
As I am interested in any green energy concepts, I am pleased with current developments in hybrid vehicles. I would like to see the hybrid concept grow to include several different energy sources feeding power to one electric engine. This may sound goofy, but one idea I have is to use giant rubber bands as a sort of mechanical battery that could spin a generator that would feed the electric engine of a car. The bands would run beneath the car in long plastic tubes and could be wound with something like a power drill and a system of gears. Current electric cars are handicapped by the size a chemical battery can grow and still be safe and light. This would allow more potential energy to be safely stored and improve milage. While driving, if the battery power dropped to half or so, the rubber bands would be turned on and begin to restore power. If this sounds loopy, keep in mind that a one person glider was recently made that can fly up to two kilometers using a giant rubber band. The best part is that the extra weight is relatively minimal compared to metal parts.
Reward: A free car would be nice, but just making it would be fine!

Portable Negative Noise Generator Printer Friendly Version
I'm trying to find out if anyone has invented a portable negative noise generator for in the house. I'd love a small, portable machine that analyzes a noise source and then puts out a negative wave to counter it. We could put them on/in fridges and washing machines and other noisy items in the home to get those annoying sounds out of our lives.
Reward: A calm, peacefull existance.

Plastic Books Printer Friendly Version
What about books made of plastic ex. (PE) sheets, from which the plastic bags are made of. The cover of the book can be made of hard plastic and the pages weaker plastic sheets. In this case, you will be able to read your favourite book wherever you want. In the pool, in the rain, etc. Pages won't tear as easily as paper. You will be able to keep and store your books for a long time in any place without the fear that they will be eaten by any creature or that it would get damaged at a moist room climate. Recycling is possible. There are so many advantages but the most important thing is that you will protect the nature. There won't be any need to kill the forest. Newspapers and magazines can also be made of plastic.
