Online social-workplace networking site Printer Friendly Version
I am thinking of starting an online social networking/workplace where people hire and work with professionals or individual service providers to get work done. Whether you are looking for professional contractors to fix your bathroom or college students to do your house work or that Mexican immigrant to build your drive way.
You could advertise on the site at no charge.
All the site will do is to link these two parties together and they decide where to meet up what rate they will pay also others looking for work can bid on projects advertised, after completion of transaction users can rate each other on the site.
Feedback please. I even a have a name for the site, I will call it www.rentasidekick.com

Silent Messaging Printer Friendly Version
The other night, I wanted to message my girl to remind her of something, but didn't. Reason: I thought she might have forgotten to turn her mobile phone to "sleep" mode, and then wake up through the beep of my incoming message. (This has happened to most of us before, hasn't it?)
Strangely, this has been a problem ever since the days of ordinary text messages, but in 2017, messaging services like Whatsapp or Telegram still haven't tackled it. The solution would be so easy: Add an option to send a message SILENTLY so it won't make a sound (or even vibrate) on the receiving phone, regardless of their settings. Voila!
If you fancy this idea, why not email the messager service of your choice (or even all of them) - if enough users get on their nerves, they should eventually implement it, and if a smaller messenger service implements it (they are probably easier to convince), the larger ones are going to steal the feature anyway.
Reward: Whatsapp, if you do this, would you please do me a favor as well and stop blowing up my solitary emoticons to some obnoxious size - I hate that. Just makes everyone sending a single emoticon look like a douchebag. And if you think this is an essential "feature" of your messaging service (you probably do), at least make it optional for Christ sakes!

Tourists for Charity Printer Friendly Version
On the whole tourists are unfamiliar with the countries they visit, so when they come across an opportunity to donate something physical e.g. pens to a school, they are ill prepared. A voluntary run service/website could be set up containing information from other travellers offering advice/information of what a tourist could donate before he/she goes abroad. The website could be categorised into countries, where people would simply type in and share their information for others to take advantage of. To keep it current, tourists who had used the information whilst on holiday could also enter information informing users of the site that the original charity donation suggestion was still valid. This would prevent tourists going to a destination and discovering that the donation opportunity does not exist anymore.
Sure, there are plenty of websites out there who offer a service for travellers to provide feedback on the places they have visited or stayed at. Only very rarely is a brief mention made of a donating opportunity on their travels and only then as a cursory mention. None that I have seen have a dedicated area of their website devoted to such a topic of donating to charity in a particular country. Either these websites could set up an area on their webpages or a dedicated website could be set up for just such a purpose.
This idea is not designed to make money, it's designed to be a service to kind hearted people who have a desire to donate things to charity and make a difference in someone else's life. These donation items would have to be small to be carried to the donation opportunity or they could be bought on a person's travel and handed over to the charity in need.
Reward: Donate some or all of your profits to charity
