Interactive Golf Printer Friendly Version
This is more of a software game design idea. I have had it for several years now and I know I am not going to get around to doing it so I am throwing it out there because I would love to see it done.
You all know how they have golf video games that you can play against people online. What I think would be great is if they made a game where you can actually play against the real pros during a real tournament.
Say the tournament starts on Thursday and you get up in the morning and start up the game and get matched up with Tiger Woods. When he actually tees off, you see a computer image of him teeing off and his shot. Now it is your turn and you tee off. You play the entire match with him and then you play the next day and are matched up accordingly on your score.
We have the technology to do this ... all matches are filmed live and the internet makes it easy to do this. I just think this would be a great market for everyone to want to get involved (PGA, game designers, and such).
Reward: A couple games and a little credit for the thought.

Train accident not train wreck Printer Friendly Version
Trains are an achievement of transportation economics of scale. Why not implement safety devices in it as well?
Everyone knows what total wrecks colliding trains become. The focus of blame and/or responsibility to avoid this catastrophe, has solely been on concise scheduling and line coordination of the railways network. Why not boost the odds in favour of less catastrophic results and concern for accidents/mishaps occuring?
Here's how :
Pass an international law AND create a "railcar/caboose" to ALWAYS be placed at the end of a train AND immediately after the locomotive(s), with the sole purpose of ABSORBING or at least CUSHIONING the forces of impact! I have roughly designed such a railcar using impact absorbing technologies already available in the public domain. All it needs is further verification/testing towards specific design and technologies. Sounds right? Tell me!
Reward: Pilot Project deployed in Indonesia. Device named in my honour. That's fine!

Travel lite Printer Friendly Version
Today airline passengers travelling on "low cost" airlines do not want to waste their precious luggage allowance checking in heavy suitcases. Many low cost airlines restrict passengers to exceedingly low permitted weights of check in luggage. Ryanair allow 15 kilo and charge $20+ per kilo for excess. There is a market for a strong ultra lightweight wheeled carrier combined with for an ultra lightweight bag. Ideal would be a "hi tec" folding wheeled carrier which can be used in combination with "check in" and "carry on" luggage. The days of "designer label luggage" could be over if the traveller could opt for a trusted engineering product which would deliver a practical solution to a 21st century problem. Have more ideas about this design.
