Single Piece Recyclable Computer Case Printer Friendly Version
Computer cases have two obvious problems. First they are not recyclable (or made from recycled material) and secondly they come in many pieces and parts and are made from various materials. Metal & Non-recyclable computer cases fill our landfills everyday with toxins.
My ideal case would be some form of injection-molded (from recyclable or recycled plastic) single piece case which could house the main computer components.
Allowances would need to be made for case cooling as well as a hinge/closure mechanism to allow easy access of internal components.
I worked for a plastic-folder manufacturer several years ago that had developed CD/DVD binders that where 100% recyclable, so if a simple design could be worked out I believe this would help reduce the strain on the environment, and eventually reduce the price of computers plus the would come in some really COOL COLORS!
Making this one single piece would allow these to be manufactured by the gazillion for little $$ once the initial molding & setup has been paid for.
I have not seen anything like (a single piece case) on the net; please let me know if you find something similar or have some ideas.
Reward: A few of these in various colors.

Double Pained Pipes and Hoses Printer Friendly Version
Just like storm windows, a double pipe can keep the weather out, but PVC and steel pipes break in the winter even when they are insulated if they are single pipes. I have seen that pipes of any kind (plastic, steel, copper, etc.) used in any application come in any size you want them in. If you have a one inch pipe then you place the hardly useable insulation over it tightly, then you place a slightly larger pipe over it which provides a pocket of air around the inner pipe which will never freeze since it is never exposed to the air. Even glass can produce this effect. Imagine how easy this quick fix is for any type of pipe especially a plastic pipe of some sort when you are passing a liquid of any kind through it and you do not want its temperature to change.
This idea is applicable to rubber hoses as well or any material holding any liquid where the temperature of the liquid is to remain the same. The real use is too keep the plumber away from the house when the pipes freeze because they are payed exorbitant prices and it takes days to go through an entire wall to repair and/or replace a pipe or hose.

Smelly Bad Tasting Wires To Repel Pet Bites Printer Friendly Version
Animal repellents in smell and taste form to spray on or around the house have been around for years, but they wear off qickly and are very expensive for small amounts of it. If you incorporate the pet and animal repellent smells and flavors into the plastics of the wiring or any other household item (in manufacturing) then the smell is permanent and the animal will never chew through expensive wires, cords, or items of large replacement cost. The premanufactured products would work with any product that can retain an odor (mostly plastics or wood) and flavor that the animals hate, but we do not notice then we need not worry any more and on the reverse side; we teach the animal the appropriate smell in toy form such as bacon, or any other flavor an animal goes for. I have used dog repellent on neighbor dogs and it works but it never smelled bad too me.
Reward: New wires for the whole house. Inside and out.
