Digital camera with remote Printer Friendly Version
Remember, when we want to take a photo of ourself in a trip and nobody is around? We keep the camera in front of us and set the timer. Instead of that, we can use a remote with a small preview display, where you can see the preview of the photo, after you stand in front of the camera. Once, we get a good preview in the remote display, we can press the shoot button from the remote itself.
Let me know, how the idea is...
Reward: A digital camera with a preview remote..

Pocket Reading Device Printer Friendly Version
My son is in fifth grade. He is dyslexic. It takes him at least 3 times longer to read materials than other children his age. He usually does not comprehend what he reads. However, he is very smart. If someone reads to him, he understands very well and is able to answer any question asked him about the material. I have to read everything to him in the afternoons and evenings to prepare him to go to school the next day and be able to pass. He is very self conscious and hates to be made fun of for his lack of reading skills. When the teacher has to read to him in front of the class, he gets very embarrassed. Many times he gets bad grades because he does not want to ask questions or get help from the teacher because of his embarrassment.
The invention I would like to see become a reality is as follows: A hand-held, portable, small machine that a person can scan reading material with, one line at a time. The machine will have a computer chip that will read the information and repeat the information in audible sound to the reader. This sound should be able to come to the reader through an earplug. This device needs to be small and inconspicuous. I am thinking it would look like a pocket tape recorder with earplugs and another cord with a small reading attachment that would be used to scan with. Or possibly, instead of a second cord, the scanner would be built into the pocket sized device and the entire device would be passed over the reading material to scan it. My son could use this device from now on. He could read the newspaper, directions on packages, books, etc. It would open up a whole new world for him and help him to be the successful adult that I know he can become. Will someone creative please help me make this a reality!!

Writers Actually Get Paid for Writing Printer Friendly Version
Ever wanted to write something? But procrastinated every time? I bet you know a few other people who also feel the same way. So did I - we started getting together every week, for a couple hours, and reading over each other's work, offering suggestions. If you haven't added more to your story, or written anything new, you have to pay a fine into the pot (we used $5.00). If you don't show up or come late, we fined each other $2.00. This all goes into a pot. When somebody finishes and edits a story, then we throw a small party (just dinner and drinks) and all parade off to the post office to mail it off. For mailing a story you get $10, for having it rejected you get a consolation prize of $15.00 and if it gets published, you get all the money in the pot! Of course adjust the fines and rewards for your own needs - the idea is that it gives you an incentive. We also offer 'scholarships' and 'grants' of $50.00 or less - like if one of us is having a hard week and the paycheck is stretching thin, we are having to work extra and give up writing time because of it, then we can apply for 'scholarship' and if we all vote ok, then you can be given a little $$$ to tide you through - if you DON'T write during that time you have to pay it all back, but if you DO write, it becomes a 'grant' instead. This system has gotten several of us published.
Reward: If you use our idea, it'd be great if you could tell everyone about it. If you had enough people doing this, then the rewards for writing could be a real financial help even without getting published.
