Phone Interface with Laptop Printer Friendly Version
So this morning, I was typing in my long password into my work laptop, reading from my phone's screen, and I thought, "wouldn't it be good if I could just hold up my phone to the laptop and send the password?"
Neither has RFID/NFC so that's not going to happen, unless I could somehow use the phone's camera flash to send data to the laptop's webcam. I could "flash my data" over - maybe so quick my human eye wouldn't see anything but a brief flash.
Maybe I could use this to unlock my laptop too.
The flash could be encrypted in case of interception.
Yes, I know there's Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and there even used to be infrared. But in a corporate environment these are generally not available or permitted.
This would provide another choice. I like choices.
Not sure if this is even physically possible or practical, but here it is. My first idea.
Reward: Yes, the kudos knowing my idea amounted to something would be great, but a free app would be nice too.

Computer "Glasses" Printer Friendly Version
Everyone is concerned with privacy today and especially with computer privacy. There are screens for sale that you can put over your laptop screen so that people sitting beside you cannot see your screen.
My idea is similar to plugging in a special pair of glasses into an iPod or similar device and being able to watch a video, only for a computer.
A specially designed pair of video glasses that could be USB supported, could be attached to your laptop computer. Upon attaching them, the laptop screen goes blank and the video is then transferred to the glasses that you are wearing. You can still use your mouse normally, however, because you have on these special glasses, only you can see what's on the screen. This will provide complete and total privacy!

Tonerless plain paper laser printing Printer Friendly Version
Laser printing on plain paper. Can it not be done by accurately calibrated laser just powerful enough to charr the surface of plain paper to create characters and images? Only basic scanner needed. No toner, no consumables. You can print on both sides too. Right from the time I heard of laser printers in 1973, I always thought that it would be this way. I am now 57 yrs and have been in computer maintenance field since 1968. I know xeroxes and laser printers' insides.
A little elaborate concept is as below..... For calibration, the laser burns a small square blot at top left corner of the page at increasing power and with help of a sensor, burns it just enough black. And

calibrates the laser for that paper (alternately, it can be precalibrated for standard grammage paper) Then it simply runs the machine. Afterall lasers can cut "corneas" (LASSIK sight correction) as well as diamonds. All the problems like safety etc have been solved there, and they may get solved here also.
