Using wasted heat Printer Friendly Version
Anything that has a radiator is blowing off heat and wasting energy doing so. So why not use it to heat up NaOH which will remove the oxygen from it. This leaves you with NaH which when allowed to react with water creates hydrogen. Then you can use the leftover NaOH to do the same path again.
The idea of using NaOH to store hydrogen has been realised. They are called powerballs (http://www.powerball.net) but no concept of using the technology to capture all the energy we throw away through radiators on cars and such has not been used.
Just as a side note that people would probably wanna know about is the implementation of hydrogen onto diesel fueled vehicles as a combustion agent.
Reward: let me know you've done it.

Wind Powered Homes. Printer Friendly Version
If we can create huge wind turbines that capture the winds energy for the population then why can we not create a smaller version to attach to our homes? I would rather have a small turbine on my home that would capture and store energy produced by wind than pay an electric company for power. Its cleaner, less expensive, and better for everyone. I think we should spend as much time as it takes to come up with energy saving ideas that depend solely on using our renewable resources such as energy produced by wind and solar. Leave the water and fossil fuels alone.
Reward: I would love a wind powered generator for my own home someday.

Undersea electricity transmission cable between Africa & EU Printer Friendly Version
Many Europen nations have a surplus of electricity generating capacity. A cable laid across the Straits of Gibralter would enable electricity to be transmitted & sold to African nations which were connected up to a common electricity grid. The funding for such a cable (and the transmission grid) could come from a European sponsored 'Marshall Aid' type plan for Africa. This would further economic development in Africa and ease immigration pressures on Europe simultaneously. A classic win-win situation for all!
Reward: Prosperity in Africa, stability in Europe.
