Pants/chair combo Printer Friendly Version
Okay here's a silly idea my fiancee actually came up with and told me about while we were at Disney watching the parade and fireworks (standing for hours...). A pair of pants that has built-in chair legs that can be folded down and voila- your in a chair. She said the actual seat part could be like those fold-up cloth chairs, which actually do work. Only problem is making it work and actually comfortable to wear...

Fashion colored/scented breath, farts, and sweat Printer Friendly Version
Create a material (solid, liquid, gas) which will react with human exhaled breath, sweat, and even farts that adds color and/or pleasant smell. Market to teenagers first. Imagine Jessica and Jennifer meeting at a school in the morning, each asking "what breath do you have today?" "Look, I have the new Passion Pink" (girl exhales a visible, pink, sweet smelling temporary puff of air) "Cool!" Now for the boys..."Jason, check out my new diesel fart!" (RRrrrippp) "Wicked! It's black!"
Reward: First samples of Florescent Green breath blasts.

Labelling Garments and Footwear with Measures of Durability Printer Friendly Version
Cheap garments and footwear often wear out very quickly, so the savings made by consumers are illusory - they soon need to be replaced.
Can we develop scientifically based measurements of the durability of garments and footwear, and include this information on labels? Then when shopping we can compare the durability of these items as well as the price.
This would also force manufacturers to compete on durability as well as price. In Australia where I live the market has been flooded with cheap garments and footwear, and many companies who may have produced good quality long lasting products have gone out of business. If such firms had a means of competing on durability as well as price, they might retain a greater share of the market and stay in business.
