Disposable Body Lotion Strips Printer Friendly Version
There are already a few devices invented for applying lotions, creams and ointments to one's back. However, these devices and inventions are made to be used, then cleaned after each application.
My idea is for disposable pre-moistened lotion strips, which come in soft-sided packs like they use for travel sized hand wipes. These strips would be a little longer than the average arm span of an adult. Each end would have a series of 3 slits cut into the material to accomodate differing arm span widths.
The disposable lotion strip is draped over the neck, a thumb or index finger is inserted into the slit on each end, which best suits the arm span. Using a "shoe shine" motion, the lotion strip is then shimmied up and down, dispensing the lotion to the hard-to-reach areas on the back. The strips can also be used to shimmy down the backs of the legs, even to the bottoms of the feet.
This disposable lotion strip could also be used for medicinal rubs or even pre-applied with self-tanning products. Not only would able-bodied people benefit, but those with limited mobility would be able to reach those areas with ease.
The advantage of disposable lotion strips over a permanent unit, is that there is no cleaning afterward. Bacteria accumulate quickly on the usual terry-cloth ends of the "reaching stick" hardware units.
Reward: I'd like a month's supply of the body lotion strips.

Handicapped Assist Device Printer Friendly Version
Both my partner and my sister are handicapped and have issues staying upright. When they fall they fall and don't have the muscle power to get themselves back up without a great deal of struggle and/or assistance. I thought it would be a good idea to have a way for someone who falls to power themselves up somehow. I'm not talking about a power winch, I'm thinking of something simple and inexpensive that can be available in each room of a house as an emergency assist device. What I think is that some of the climbing devices used for rock wall climbing or similar items could be useful for someone who is just trying to 1. get to a sitting position, then 2. get to a standing position. I thought about ropes installed in room corners, or something along those lines .. or some sort of double-cane system that can pull a person up without backing down.
Reward: the device

Nasal Breath Strip Glue Printer Friendly Version
Instead of using a breathing strip with the spring action of the strip being bent, you simply replace that with a type of removeable glue that shrinks more than a standard glue and when you paint it on across the bridge of your nose; the shrinking will have the same outward pulling effect as the strip, but the glue will not fall or easily pull off, making it a superior product than a breathing strip to open nasal passages at night to breathe easier. This product should be packaged with the glue remover. And you could probably paint your whole nose for best results and in any color as well!
Reward: A relatively normal supply.
