Desk Rider Printer Friendly Version
This idea is similar to a stationary excercise bicycle, but with only the pedals. A small rectangular unit (appr. 12"x18") with bicycle pedals on either side is placed on the floor, under an office desk. The unit has variable resistance settings for a heavier/lighter workout.
The unit is simply placed under the desk and the person operates the pedals while working at his/her computer, etc.
This could help eliminate the very common, "Office-Butt Syndrome" caused by sitting at desk eating M&M's for eight hours per day.

One Hand Helper Printer Friendly Version
This one's for people who can only use one hand. I'd like a gadget, maybe a magnetic glove or a magnetic ring. The daily objects I want to use are fixed with metal that the magnets can pick up on, so say the hemiplegic reaches for a brush and the toothbrush or hairbrush or even a large pen, anything small, useful and fiddly stays in place and - with maybe great difficulty - I have some degree of extra help to use everyday objects.
Reward: Limited use of a useless hand.

Replace Pills by Medicinal Patches Printer Friendly Version
In a couple more years the world population of senior citizens will have risen at it's fastest pace ever. Everyone of them will be taking pills and choking them down. Many will be on so many pills, through out the day, that they won't be able to stomache, swallow, or keep track of them. I am seeing that happen right now.
Instead of pills we should allow drugs or drug cocktails in patch form like the nicotine patches for quiting smoking. This way they will have their twilight years spent with a few patches rather than bogged down with 20 pill bottles to refill and carry around for redosing. Patches are slim, effective, and can give medicine better than pills when they last longer and give a continous stream of medicine through out a day. We should abandon the pills and go with the patch.
