Movies on Demand Printer Friendly Version
Maybe one of the movie companies like Blockbuster Video or Hollywood Video could team up with a cable provider to offer movies on demand. Much like pay per view you could order movies from it. But instead of watching whatever was coming on that channel and at the time that they are playing it, you could type in the name of the movie you wanted to watch, pay for it, and have it delivered to your TV. This isn't that far fetched as they already have digital cable and TIVO. They would just have to have all of these movies on some type of network that could send a requested stream to a specific viewer. Maybe you could search by genre, etc. Would be interesting.

Pet TV Printer Friendly Version
On the Discovery TV channel it was explained that our dog/cat pets can only see garbage on our TV screens because their eye response is much too fast for the frame rate (pictures per second) that was designed for humans. This was their explanation of why dogs won't even notice "Lassie" on TV. We know that if we changed the frame rate to something else, humans would see various degrees of a flickering picture (like old silent films) and in some cases it would be so bad as to look like garbage. So...
What if we changed the frame rate (while a Lassie tape is looping) until the dog or cat starts noticing. This could be perfected in the local dog pound with a big screen TV.
For those of you who have pets that go nuts when home alone, wouldn't it be nice to be able to push a button on the remote to switch your TV to "Dog/Cat Mode" and pop in their favorite tape before leaving?
This would be an original equipment modification that would probably add about $10 to $30 to the TV's retail depending on circuit design.
Please don't ask about goldfish or gerbil frequencies (yet). ;-)
Reward: One can of "Puppy Breath" scent air freshner.

Television feedback Printer Friendly Version
Have you ever watched a politician or other public figure on tv, and wonder how that person looks to people in other countries? Does that cool football coach look silly to people in other cultures? Likeable? Grouchy?
Right now, there's no way to tell. But if people watching in other countries could submit feedback online, we could tell what they're thinking. It would be fun, and might even avert a few international misunderstandings.
Reward: Global tolerance. Oh yeah: and I could click on "George W. Bush looks like a chimp"...
