Wind Powered Homes.
If we can create huge wind turbines that capture the winds energy for the population then why can we not create a smaller version to attach to our homes? I would rather have a small turbine on my home that would capture and store energy produced by wind than pay an electric company for power. Its cleaner, less expensive, and better for everyone. I think we should spend as much time as it takes to come up with energy saving ideas that depend solely on using our renewable resources such as energy produced by wind and solar. Leave the water and fossil fuels alone.Reward: I would love a wind powered generator for my own home someday.

Eliminate Printed Ads/Coupons from Mail
Almost everyday I get home and find page after page of ads and coupons in my mailbox. I immediately discard this physical "spam" in the conveniently placed recycle bin, which is full of the same ads that my neighbors in my apartment complex have thrown away.It seems that most people don't even glance at these ads and it is a huge waste of paper (not to mention extremely annoying sifting through to make sure you don't throw any important mail away). I propose initiatives to cut back, if not eliminate, this daily waste of our needed resources. We have spam filters for email. Why not do the same for mail?Reward: Feedback and any progress updates

Save water
The reservoir in your toilet is much too large for the quantity of water needed to flush out the contents after use. Suppose if everybody put a red brick in the bottom of their reservoir how much water that would save!Reward: One pound box of basmati rice

Cleaning air pollution with a hepa filter
I had this idea for a few years and just want to put it out there. There are hepa air filters in homes that are ionic and clean pollutants in the air. So why can't we build one big ionic hepa filter for the air pollution we already have. We can also reuse the oils that are captured as another way conserving. Also if this is too much money maybe we can create smaller versions and put it in the exhaust of our cars. If it works in our home why not in the open air.Reward: I just would like to be acknowledged in the project as to where the idea came from and be the first person to get this product if it goes in cars.

Off-peak energy storage
Take advantage of excess electrical production capacity during night-time hours by equipping homes and businesses with large battery systems. This approach has been suggested for electrical cars where the disadvantage is the size of the battery system, but this would be much less of an issue for homes and businesses. Power companies would need to provide a cost incentive to encourage the use of these and the energy storage mode would be best controlled remotely by centralized operation at the power company to optimize efficiency. Current battery technology could be implemented easily. Having these energy storage devices would likely encourage individual consumers to add solar-voltaic or wind energy collection technology to work with the storage system.Reward: No reward required
