Energy-draining shopping

 by MissPlayful ¦  Thu Feb 03, 2005 9:39 am ¦  Forum: Creativity Pool ¦  Topic: Pedestrian Power ¦  Replies: 13 ¦  Views: 8283

The problem with this imaginative idea is that every unit of energy you generate is an extra unit of energy the poor pedestrian has to expend walking. You can’t get energy for nothing. If the generator contains a moving part it’s the pedestrian foot that moves it. Instead of the pavement remaining f...

Dual sun visor

 by MissPlayful ¦  Sun Nov 07, 2004 3:34 am ¦  Forum: Creativity Pool ¦  Topic: Dual sun visor ¦  Replies: 3 ¦  Views: 4133

Good idea Myst1q. I often have that problem on one of the main roads I frequently drive along, when the visor I have doesn't block the sun in either the front or side position. It needs some kind of visor to cover the corner area as you say. Would not only reduce the danger of accidents but reduce e...

tongue-talk

 by MissPlayful ¦  Fri Nov 05, 2004 8:07 am ¦  Forum: Creativity Pool ¦  Topic: Tongue writer ¦  Replies: 6 ¦  Views: 7694

You could have nubile young men and women paid to walk along the main streets and malls (or even in restaurants, trains and planes) with advertisements on their tongues, walking up to people they judge might be receptive to the ads, and sticking their tongues out right in front of their eyes. Famous...

I said in a previous post on another thread: "When I first read Steve’s “Action Pizza” idea I thought it was the silliest idea since his eminently tastless “Artificial Food Particles for your Teeth”. If there was a competition for the silliest idea on CreativityPool I wondered which of Steve’s ...

Amplifiers require more energy than you get back

 by MissPlayful ¦  Wed Sep 08, 2004 2:29 am ¦  Forum: Creativity Pool ¦  Topic: Microphone Generator ¦  Replies: 16 ¦  Views: 265002

We can’t extract more energy out of the sound than there is in the sound, and the basic problem is that there is very little energy available in the sound for us to convert to useful energy. We would need to put more energy into the amplifier than we would get back from the louder sound. I am not an...

Loud noise doesn't carry much energy

 by MissPlayful ¦  Tue Sep 07, 2004 11:06 pm ¦  Forum: Creativity Pool ¦  Topic: Microphone Generator ¦  Replies: 16 ¦  Views: 265002

Listen folks, it’s great to see this and other creative ideas on converting wasted energy into useful energy. But we do need to look at this particular idea in perspective. Consider a noisy truck engine. Much of the energy being produced by that truck motor goes into moving the truck, and some of th...

Depth detector for cars

by MissPlayful ¦  Mon Aug 30, 2004 10:29 am ¦  Forum: Creativity Pool ¦  Topic: Fish Finder for My Car ¦  Replies: 1 ¦  Views: 3308

I gave this idea a vote. How many people around the world drown every year in just this kind of situation - quite a few I would think. Basic idea is great - a depth detector for when you want to drive along a stretch of flooded road or track where the depth is unknown - you might want to ford a stre...

Thinking cool on a hot topic

One cheap partial solution would be to put a quilt or similar cover over the child’s seat when the car is not in use in hot weather. That will prevent direct sunlight heating the seat. And there are other situations where you could use it to keep the seat cooler or warmer than it otherwise would be....

Take a look at this water Professor - it's freezing!

Bubba are you sure about this? What physical process would cool water by this amount as it fell? Evaporation? If you are right it would mean that water at 10 degrees that enters the top of a waterfall 780 feet high would be at freezing point when it reached the bottom.

Car Seats with A/C or Heat

Steve you were right - your instinct has proved correct. Could be a new career for you - big dollars - replacing the traditional and time consuming patent searches! Here’s a quote from the website in question: “Most people spend more time sitting in their cars than they do in their favorite armchair...

Making cars safer for babies

Steve - Cwaye’s idea now has a "This idea has already been realised" on the bottom of it, but I don’t think you have presented sufficient evidence to support that contention. Firstly, her main concern is with cooling the seat and you haven't shown that has been realised, and secondly you h...

Tub scrubber

 by MissPlayful ¦  Mon Aug 02, 2004 10:18 am ¦  Forum: Creativity Pool ¦  Topic: Electric Tub Scrubber ¦  Replies: 5 ¦  Views: 13562

Yes agreed - and not only for the bath but the shower as well. The key as you say is to be able to clean standing up. If you have a small shower cubicle as I do it’s quite uncomfortable cleaning the lower walls and floor. Remembering that water and electricity don’t mix you would need to be very car...

Green milk

I like the idea in principle of putting a harmless dye in milk that turns green when the milk goes off, but I doubt if the public would accept the idea of putting dye into milk, I think they would rather take their chances. There is also the psychological effect to consider of pouring out a glass of...

 by MissPlayful ¦  Sat Jun 26, 2004 9:59 am ¦  Forum: Creativity Pool ¦  Topic: Action Pizza! ¦  Replies: 10 ¦  Views: 6289

When I first read Steve’s “Action Pizza” idea I thought it was the silliest idea since his eminently tastless “Artificial Food Particles for your Teeth”. If there was a competition for the silliest idea on CreativityPool I wondered which of Steve’s two ideas would take the cake (pizza?). But this pi...
