How about these two ideas?

1. - We have air-capsules for personal transportation which would work as follows:
- a rocket kind of take-off which will shoot me around 50-100 meters into the air.
- then a helecopter kind of fan + propelsion to read the place I want
- Then a paracute kind of landing with controls, so that I can land anywhere on a pavement or on a jogger's track.
Being shot vertically probably will make sure that I wont hit someone else launching themselves at the same time. and this capsule will let me take off from anywhere (like a pavement) not only from a helipad.

2. Then once I take off, how do I know how to reach my destination?
We have three-dimentional roads made of concentrated light-beams ( like the ones we see from lighthouses) which make the roads and the lanes in the roads. We can pass another capsule from the right lane, left lane, or the top or bottom lane. We can take exits from this air-freeway, using roads (again drawn with light), which point downwards, when we approach such a road, we go into the exit-lane, slow down, then start the descent. Roads can be marked using floating capsules, which are at the periphery of the roads.
