Got my idea to move a stranded raft at sea towards safety?

Say one is stranded in a raft or small boat at sea. . . have I just thought of a novel way to propel it towards safety?
Please guess; especially if you think it may not have been considered before.
As have helium filled kite sails, swim fins, etc.
Novel is key.
