Why not place coils that get hot around the spout or the entire faucet that heat up the water the instant you want HOT water?

It seems like having a huge tank of water heated by gas or electric, would be more dangerous and expensive than having a relatively small coil to heat the water as needed. It would be like when you have dimming lights, except the energy would convert to heat not light.

Look up tankless water heaters. They're not in the faucet itself, but can (and often are) installed under the counter. I've seen them used in the UK in showers for instant hot water.

This is how people heat up their water before heated water tanks became poplular. In Portugal IE most houses use this, but of course it's with gas, not electricity, cause if you wanted to use electricity to heat up water as you need it, it would take humongous amounts of watts.
