Combine the advantages buses and trains in regional transportation by creating high-speed "bus-trains". Dedicated commercial interstate highway lanes that allow high-speeds and trains of vehicles would be required for separation of regular traffic and commercial bus or truck trains.
With accomodations for docking and moving between the individual "buses" or "cars", more amenities like dining could be provided. Local service could be provided by shuttles that could dock while the train is in motion, allowing passengers to get on and off the larger train without the train stopping. The shuttles would come and go with passengers to stops along the way. Advantages could include Fuel efficiency - speed - convenience - relatively low infrastructure demands.
