In these tough economic times, everyone is going to have to give up the free rides and start paying their share. Religious institutions should not be excluded from paying property taxes, nor have any preferential zoning not offered to any other property owner. This would make church properties more part of a community, not less. It would also convert underutilized buildings into vibrant buildings. It would protect the communities they are there to serve in the first place. It would also erase the dead zones churches create in commercial/mixed use areas.

Reward: Communities would benefit greatly if they took those tax dollars and put them to work in the community, for all, not some.

Religious institutions should not be excluded from paying property taxes, nor any preferential partition does not provide any other property owner. This will allow more church property as part of a community, not less. It will also make full use of the building into a dynamic building.
