Someone should find a way to recycle dead lead acid batteries. Can lead acid batteries be used for electric vehicles

In India (As also in most other third world countries) recycling of lead acid batteries is routine. One actually trades in the old battery when a new one is bought. Lead is an expensive metal and is well worth the cost of recovery.

All electric vehicles to my knowledge already work on lead acid cells. A two seater car called Reva (A British Design), and various pallet trucks and a two-wheeler(This Company is now moribund) are performing their functions using lead acid cells. As of now, there is no more economical alternative for bulk power (1 HP and above) to lead acid cells.
