Quantifying the value of education for life

Education should be designed to prepare students for life, not simply academic subjects with precise, measurable, yet absurdly meaningless attainment targets. Students should be taught the necessary skills to thrive; skills which cannot be measured in end of term exams. If we must evaluate the performance of teachers we should measure how well their students are living in 5 or 10 years after graduating.
