Much of the scientific literature has suggested that gaming has positive effect on intelligence and learning. The literature also suggests that parental engagement with children's learning activities also has substantial positive influence on outcomes. There are a lot of educational board games to be had out there like Chess, Scrabble and Scattergories. A system should be put in place to encourage and enable family gaming either in school or school libraries for children in grade levels K-5. In the future perhaps book clubs and reading clubs could encourage exploration of educational games as a better way to interest young children who find reading difficult or unpleasant.
