Gel Capsule Food And Liquid Containers

Military K-Rations never go bad, unless you open the package, but if you placed all your foods and liquids in gel capsule form of any shape or size, then it would keep until you add water and release the ingredients inside, without needing a knife to open the package.
You can add a food or liquid product inside the gel and use a process to make the gel extremely hard, where it would only be affected by adding hot water to it. Just a different way to keep ingredients fresh for years - besides cans which are heavy, paper which does little to protect ingredients, or plastic which lasts for ever but is very hard to open after sealing it.
Just adding hot water to use a product, or boiling a hard gel might be a backpacker's or mountain climber's dream of food and beverage packaging.
