Just a very long series of waves of road material, so your automobile goes up and down and never jams you up or down. Just smooth high up hills and deep low dips rather than bumps. This would last until you notice and save shock absorbers from destruction. Any extreme odd movement and a painted slow sign would slow the driver anyway. You could stagger the waves from the left tires to the right side and back with each wave.
