Harnessing thunderstorms

thunder storms produce a great deal of electricity. This electricity is disipated as rapidely as it was created. As it disipates, it goes somwhere where is stored?
I am thinking of a system to harness this storms and use as eco electricity.

I am thinking of a magnetic system of capturing the electricity, and then another module for storage of as much megawatts as possible.

I am thinking same mini systems can be put on planes to harness as much as possble during their flights and encounter with thunderstorms.

A system can be made so that they can convert the stored energy and use in case of engine failures, etc...

we can extrapolate it to cars, ships and home use and you name it.
