The perfect place for ideas that are totally insane, making them far too hot to be thrown away.

My idea is a chamber that contains strips of linen soaked in Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) mixed with water. If this chamber is put in an area with high concentration of CO2 then the following reaction will take place.

NaOH + CO2 = Na2CO3 + H2O

This could be a short time solution to greenhouse gas build up, but the only problem I know of is that Sodium Hydroxide is more expensive than Sodium Carbonate. So who ever did this would lose money. Can anybody find a way to get around this problem?

Reward: Help in designing the prototype.
