A pen that detects the thoughts of the writer can be useful in the creative elaboration or "worlding" of the written page.

For example, writing could be treated more like a process of scenario design ala Sid Meier's Civilization 2 or Sim City 2000.

Adding information about the user's brain type, preferences, etc. would influence the functionality of the pen. It would be vastly editable, or conversely it could be sold in key models with topics like computer-aided drafting, fiction writing, quotations, etc.

When the added content is not original, the pen would automatically provide a source for the content.

The pen would work with a program (the nanotech) which could be attached to the pen wirelessly. The key concept is that the pen finds a significance for writing gestures in the context of the individual person's personality, and even specific files, images, etc. that they have already created on their computer. By understanding the context in which the pen is being used, the program interprets what the user wants to "hear"---this can be either simple data like 'oh, this person likes these kinds of gesture drawings' or complex, such as, 'the primary directive is to provide a segue at x point of the writer's story, so that it is possible to connect with y pool of information, or z concept configuration.

Importantly, the pools of information or concept configurations can even be corporate, general purpose, or culminated information. There is a lot of potential to refine the way the data is used, resulting in highly specific types of 'exploration' and therefore also highly specific culminations of data.

The entire theory is based on a kind of naturalism that has been observed in studies of symbolism, geometry, and perceptual studies, e.g. gestures are naturalized by the 'permitted range of movement', not necessarily just the control context of an experiment. I find this interesting, hence my idea.

Nanotech merely allows the possibility that such a program would apply to any surface, and would communicate in essence with everything one might possibly touch or interplay with. Nanotech might be seen as the real-life-metaverse. Such a surface might not only compute and relate with gestures (a kind of haptic adaptivity) but also construct technologies which serve purposes related to the data being controlled and manipulated. In this sense there is a potential for the ultimate mini-architect program----such as designing a city that one physically walks through. Although arguably these things can also be done with electrodes alone, the pen adaption provides a first step towards understanding the brain-matter interface.
