Taking pride in what you did at home or elsewhere? Want to recommend it to others? This is your chance!
To find the meaning of life, you must first ask yourself the following questions using ‘WHY?’.

1. Why do we do things to survive? – To do the things we want to do.

2. Why do we do the things we want to do? – To feel better.

3. Why do we try to feel better? – To feel fulfilled in our lives before we die.

So, as you have read, it is unlikely that we all have the same purpose in life. We can all find our own purpose for living that makes us feel better. ‘You don’t know what you have until it’s gone’ so you must enjoy what you have so that you feel better. There are many theories of what happens after death but since we don’t officially know, it is recommended that we should enjoy ourselves as much as we can before then.

Apart from just enjoying yourself though, I believe that you should live and allow others to live because there is simply no positive point of making anyone else feel bad. Also, this is the moral for having children – live and allow others to live, which is why we have children – To allow others to enjoy life.

There is a theory that since we are constantly evolving and adapting, an aim of life is too eventually become the ultimate species that is immune to every disease and that is almost totally invulnerable and invincible, a species that can do anything and everything. This probably explains the idea of angels and heaven. The three different types of form are solid, liquid and gas. The three different types of terrain are land (walking, running, etc.), sea (water - swimming) and sky (air – flying, gliding, etc.). Angels were probably very evolved humans who we didn’t know about because apart from evolving to be able to walk on land and swim like we can, they must also have evolved to have grown wings over time and can fly. They must also have evolved to be able to change shape, form and do other things which allow them to live in the clouds. This is also how they could protect our species and planet from intruders outside of our planet who try to attack us (aliens in UFOs for example). There is actually another form known as plasma. Plasma takes many forms whether it is either a solid, liquid or gas. This could explain the mystery of ghosts, the afterlife, shape shifting things etc.

There is also a theory that God as we know God has a ‘plan’. Maybe God has a sense of humour and the universe exists for God’s ‘entertainment’. In that case, to God, The world is probably like how it is in the movie ‘The Matrix’ or maybe the world, to God, is a strategy game from a ‘birds eye’ view such as war games (e.g. ‘Age of Mythology’, ‘Civilisation 4’, etc.) and at other times when wars aren’t going on, the world is like a game of ‘The Sims’ where there is a birds eye view from above a family’s house to look in on their lives and control them. Maybe this whole reality is just a virtual world (like in ‘The Matrix’) but seems real because of the incredibly brilliant graphics.

Although, the main theory is that life exists to allow you to find what makes you and your ‘soul’ feel fulfilled. Life exists to give our ‘souls’ something to do, in a positive light, because before life the universe contained a lot of matter and anti-matter but no life to use this matter, no life to exist alongside the matter and anti-matter. Our soul in this instance is our positive feeling and lust for life inside of us.

In truth, there is no ‘meaning of life’ as such. We ‘live for the sake of living’. ‘The meaning of life is life itself’. We live to find what makes us feel good and fulfilled before we die. So, in other words, no human being has a set purpose. We as humans adapt to our surroundings to feel good in that environment. This is how we find what we want to do in life, what interests us the most, and what we feel is most important in our lives. In a sense, we essentially adapt and choose our purpose, almost entirely without realising it.

‘Live and let others live’ – The other part of ‘the meaning of life’ is to allow life itself to carry on, to allow others to feel how it is to be alive. A message behind this is that before you die, to make a contribution to life, you can make another one exist. In other words, another part of the meaning of life is to reproduce and to look after your own child/children until they are ready to live by themself/themselves. Then, youir role is to help them when they need it, up to the point when you die. This is why being very powerful physically AND mentally is important in the meaning of life, because we need to be strong in as many ways as possible to do what we feel is good and right. In fact, life is a war between ‘good’ and ‘evil’ because no matter how powerful or weak you are in any case, it is what you do with this power or this weakness that matters. You could be powerful or weak in any way but it is whether you use this power/weakness to do good things, bad things, or things which aren’t good or bad. Things which aren’t good or bad, (such as a two-faced person – because they don’t side with either, because two opposite sides cause a war), are probably the best because they don’t cause the bad side OR the good side to get annoyed. Other than this, the good side is of course the best.

Life is a test/game to see if a species can survive. Our species is one of the best surviving and are the most intelligent creatures on the planet but to pass and complete the test/game, we will need to survive until it is no longer possible to survive, until the end of the universe. At the moment, we’re doing very well.
To be honest, life is here for one reason, several reasons or no reason(s) at all. It just exists…or maybe it doesn’t really exist. Life could all just be an illusion of some kind. In fact, there could be no meaning or reason for life at all!

From observing, I have found that man is made for war. Men go to war to keep their families alive, women look after the families, mostly when the man is away. In the end, everyone dies because everything always ends with violence, unless the men are good and prefer to stay alive and not cause anyone to feel pain.

We should not have the intelligence that we have. We should all be cave people so as to not cause serious damage to entire populations and the world itself. Although, since people have the intelligence now, since we have developed naturally to be this intelligent, we have to either let go of all that we have made and not keep it up, or we have to carry on until we all have maximum knowledge and capabilities. We have to keep the intelligence and all that we have made, because humans could not evolve quickly enough to go back to old ways, we cannot rewind time. We have to carry on evolving to the point where we no longer can, when our universe ends its journey, unless there are other universes where we can go, in which case, the end of everything and everyone will be when those universes finish their journey(s). If this is not the time, then end will simply be when humans can no longer survive by any means at all.

Truthfully, you must be yourself and be as positive and enthusiastic as you possibly can while you are alive and follow your life story as a journey and an adventure. As yourself, you will be able to enjoy it every step of the way. This is the only ‘meaning of life’ which is important and applies to everyone and anyone, and is the only meaning which really means something to people. It makes sense to everyone and anyone. This, I conclude, is the meaning of life.

Pass this post around and hopefully everyone in the world will be happy and not make as many wrong decisions in life. I only want to help...

Of course, you never know, it could be way more complicated than this...for example, the universe and everything could just be one big trick!...

Also, the meaning of life that is best to remember is this one.

The meaning is to do good in the world because we naturally feel like doing bad things at many times. In terms of good, we must do more to make other good people feeel good, more than ourselves. Basically, we must do our best for other people rather than thinking of ourselves all of the time.

I agree with The One.

Also, perhaps the meaning of this life is to survive until the next one, and strive to do what we can to make the next life a better one than this (I am not talking about reincarnation :) )

It could well be true. The process probably carries on and on so we have to do the best we can while we're here.

Another thing is that in each life we have (if there is more than one we get to have), we would lose our memory of events and everything from our previous life and only be left with the FEELING of how well we did in our previous life...Possibly?...

The One has posed a question that demands an answer.
The answer, which will render all else irrelevant.

Is this the right forum for such a discussion? What follows appears repetitive and bad grammar. Language has limitations when discussing such issues. I apologise for any confusion created. I may tread on many toes. Raise many hackles. My apologies for that too.

There is The Knower ( Yes, Singular. Just The One) and the ignorant. I am one of the latter. What I post below is a little bit of what I have gleaned in a long search lasting many years on this quest. I firmly believe it and am actively pursuing it.

All of us are caught in the web of ‘I am this body-mind’ belief. A bit of analysis reveals that the body itself is insentient. In this inert body arises a sensation of ‘I’. This is the awakening mind. If one analyses this mind it is found to be just a bundle of thoughts, all of which can be traced to the first ‘I’ thought.

The ‘I’ thought is the fist thought that arises when one wakes from a deep sleep. Likewise, it is the last thought to subside when one finally falls asleep. In a deep sleep, or a faint, or in a coma, there is no awareness of the mind or body. Yet, the very first thought of stirring awareness is the ‘I’ thought.

It seems that the source of the “I” thought is what one should track. This source is the pure super ‘I’.

Pure, undivided, all encompassing, The One Being, unalloyed, eternal, timeless, BLISS.

This then is the blinding meaning of life.

Being, Universal Awareness, a timeless, still, silent, Infinitude.

The meaning of life is death and destruction. Death of the ego. Destruction of the mind.

In his post, The One rightly said that the way to find the meaning of life is by asking a question. However, the question is not Why? But, Who?

Who am I?
One has to dive within oneself deeper and deeper, tearing off veil after veil of ignorance, attachment to objects, and the subject-object relationship, the sense of ‘I’ and ‘Others’ that enmeshes one.

Not thinking ‘I am this’, or ‘I am not that’. Just be. Be. BE.

The burning bush told, ‘I am that I am’. The bible says, ’Be still and know I am God’.
This is the meaning of life: ’Be still and know I am God’. Not THINK ‘I am God’. That is blasphemy. Thinking is mind’s activity. The ego in control.

Being still, Knowing I am God is when the ego is dead, ‘person’ality is gone, and the mind sinks without trace into the Pure Awareness, ‘I am’.

There appear to be billions and trillions of forms, and objects on earth and elsewhere in the universe. There is only The One Self, undivided, permanent.

The route to this is through the simple, direct quest: ‘Who am I?’. Inquire within. The answer will be found.

At the core of every religion seems to be the One Truth. Central to Buddhism is the doctrine of No-ego. Islam asserts There is God and there is nothing other than God.. Medieval Christendom had the concept of self-naughting. Hinduism is non-dualism. All of which points to the dissolution of the ego, the individual, the ‘I’ thought into the Eternal Bliss.

Let each ask oneself diligently, unceasingly, ‘Who am I’ and just BE.

Thank you for sharing that. It's a very good description of your faith. Thank you.

However, you did take some quotations from the Bible out of context. In both of the places where you have quoted "I" it was the God of the Bible talking, not the person writing.

For instance, in the case of the burning bush:
Exodus 3:13 - 14 Then Moses said to God, “Indeed, when I come to the children of Israel and say to them, ‘The God of your fathers has sent me to you,’ and they say to me, ‘What is His name?’ what shall I say to them?” And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’”

And in the second instance, it was Psalm 46:10-11,
"Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth! The Lord of hosts is with us; The God of Jacob is our refuge. Selah"

I don't have any problem with others speaking out about their beliefs--none whatsoever. I just prefer that people don't use the Bible out of context to support them. Just like I wouldn't take quotes out of the Qu'ran or the Bhagavad-Gita, etc.

Thank you again for sharing with us.

Even unwittingly giving offence horrifies me. The foot should be firmly rooted in the ground and the mouth tightly closed. When the former is put in the latter, as I seem to have done, problems can arise.

The post was made after great hesitation. It was an innocuous, non-denominational, non-confrontational statement. No argument is presented nor any attempt at converting anyone to the posted view. Nor is any position of authority or expertise is presumed. It is a declared statement of an ignorant person on a quest. The person holds all religions including his own on par.

I (this individual ego) am a Hindu. My schooling was in a Catholic Seminary. I do go to churches, offer worship, and feel the Grace as I do at Hindu temples. The Bible gives me great comfort. The point is that there is absolutely no contradiction in this. What was posted was with the full appreciation of the quoted words as words of God Almighty.

It is said: ‘ Many are called but few chosen’. God in His infinite mercy is not discriminatory. The individual ego with its free will acts in ways to prevent being chosen.

‘Wide is the gate and broad the way that leadeth to destruction, and many there be which go in thereat: because strait is the gate and narrow the way, which leadeth into life, and few there be that find it’ . Christ taught: ‘The man who wants to save his life will lose it, but the man who loses his life for my sake will find it’. Is not this a direct injunction for the individual to shed his ego and attain eternal life?

The hesitation before the posting was made seems justified. Thanks are due to Ecc_1:9. Rishi should have gone about finding the meaning to his life rather than talk about it. If he had gone about his quest in earnest, he would not talk. An empty vessel makes the loudest noise. From now on, I will hold my peace on this.

To err is human. To forgive, divine. If it is felt that I erred, I beg: Be divine! Forgive.

Your answers are very impressive. They were what you could call perfect answers I would say. Many people, like us, at one point or another search for this divine status of being and are interested in this idea of being 'oneself'. Could it be true that to find this 'I' you speak of, this divine 'one' by any chance, you must search in the back of your mind, like the saying, "The answers are all in the back of your mind", which is heard in so many places...? Although, beware, this might also cause oneself to become selfish as they call it, as oneself will be thinking 'inside of themself' trying so hard to find the answers that they end up missing out on living, which itself, would be presumed to be the reason we all exist in the first place...but their definitely seems to be more to all of these religions, faiths, beliefs, etc. than meets the eye.

There is another interesting theory on this site somewhere that I read...Someone wrote an enormous post about how the cause of all faiths, all human beings and everything from the beginning of life on Earth..is all because aliens could have placed the first life here on Earth and hidden somewhere like 'The Bermuda Triangle' or space, then watched how things develop from the first Earth life...I think they also said how they believe that aliens intelligently designed our lifeforms and us humans so that we would create a world for them to eventually live in, where we would leave signs like 'Stone Henge' and 'The Seven Wonders of the World'.

It's interesting, check it out! Have a read if you have the time... :-? ;-D

I apologise for anything I may have critisized in my last post and I do not mean to critisize any faiths or beliefs, and also I was brought up with Christianity so I do have a lot of beliefs myself which link to Christ, etc. Thank you all for listening to me and thank you for your input, you have been most welcoming. :-)

Thanks "The One." I completely understand where you are coming from. I didn't feel "criticized" at all.

For anyone who is interested, here is a cool e-card which explains a little bit how I came to my faith. http://www.livingwaters.com/interview/index.shtml

Warning! In my last post, I stated that "the answers are all in the back of your mind". Beware! Do NOT fully trust this statement because I have found that from using the back of my brain a lot in particularly, it is not healthy. ANYthing too much or too little is bad for you, but i think I discovered that the back of the brain is where the human body is made weaker by building up a lot of intelligence in this particular part.

In other words, people are made weaker and thus more 'evil' by using the back's of their brain, so don't use it! This is a theory, but if you look at any person who lacks a lot of hair at the front and sides of their head, receding, they seem to have a lot of hair at the back of their head. I am not saying that they are 'evil' just because they look old or simply because they have not much hair, but because of stress over sins such as obsession lust, etc, people seem to become this way by trying to think too hard and so deeply about only particular things, thus making them look a state.

In other words, I have a theory that 'evil' as we know it, most likely builds up in the back of our head, if at all...because also, if we do not move on in our lives and try to change things we have made which we would not normally try to change, we end up getting in a state over them, and go back on ourselves to try and change them, thus creating a bulge at the back of our head...

Call it rubbish if you think it all is, maybe I'm just confused and weary from lots of stress myself...(I've just been on a 2 year Media course so as you might have guessed, this is probably why I'm saying all of this...)

Any response is helpful...
