The skin friction, excuse the pun, between the needle's metalic surface and the tissue would be next to nothing. You only feel needle as it penertrates the skin, not when it is traveling through the tissue.

Adding teflon to the needles surface would also increase the diameter of the needle some what.

On a similar note, what about adding teflon to the tubes that the put down throats e.t.c?
