I recently posted http://www.ambysoft.com/ideas/reduceJunkMail.html which overviews ways to reduce the amount of physical junk mail that you receive. To summarize the points:
1. Put signs on your mailbox requesting no junk mail.
2. Ask the carrier to stop delivering it.
3. Send it back.
4. Put it back in the mailbox.
5. Ask your local politicians to pass a bylaw against delivery.
