Solar Power Lines

Postby tmac4100 » Tue Jul 31, 2007 11:17 pm

My idea is a type of power line that is wrapped in flexible solar panels to generate power with converters at each telephone pole. This eleminates the need for electric power plants and provides clean energy for all! Flexible solar panels are lightweight enough to be fashioned and used in a wire shaped form roughly 2 inches in diameter.

YES!!! With the recent and expected advances in solar cell conversion efficiency, coating the tops of all above ground power transmission cables (close to the source of losses) with long lengths of series solar cells could compensate for cable and transformer losses to a point emulating the goal of superconductivity? Unfortunately, the odds are that room temperature superconductivity will be achived with nano technology before 2010 which is about two years before the end of the earth?
