A rail evaluation car could be developed to travel far enough ahead of any freight or passenger train averting a rail accident. The evaluation or "monitor car" would be un-manned and have the abilty to feed real-time data to the engineer and also to record track data for later reference and evaluation. This could save lives at train crossings and by advising the engineer of a possible derailment. |
