My idea for a videogame experience:
Since the year 2005 when the Xbox360 came about we all know what we can expect for a video game experience. From COD 2 to GTAIV, we've seen some amazing things. We've seen on-line FPS' that blew our mind's and still do. We've seen living-breathing worlds.
Now, what I want for a game experience is this: I want an FPS like no other. From the start of the game YOU WILL go to Boot Camp. I'm not talking about 15 minutes of running a couse and shooting a rifle to get used to the controls, no no. I'm talking about really feeling like you are there at Parris Island, S.C. MCRD. Sound crazy? How so? This part of the game would feel more like an RPG. Your character will go through rigorous training, learning how to work as a team. Say the campaign would take approx. 10-12 hrs. to complete, this part should take up about 2-3 hrs. of the gameplay.
This would be the extent of your training, there would be no
ITB or MCT after boot camp. This could be a great way to learn teamwork, and, it would just be cool as hell. IMO, anyone who loves FPS' wants to know what it would feel like to be there! To have those D.I.s' screamning 10,9,8,7,6...and so on in your face. There has to be a way to integrate this, and to do it well.
Could you imagine this being part of the campaign, and an on-line Co-OP with friends being in the same Platoon. There should be 3 phases just like USMC boot camp really is. 3 months, 3 phases, all about teamwork. With different activities for each day to take up the 2-3 hrs. of gameplay.
1st Phase: Introduction to the D.I.s' and your fellow recruits. The D.I.s' right of the rip will give commands to do things, but everything must be done as a team and on time. So these will be timed activities. Everything will be timed. Marines get the job done!
2nd Phase: Drill. Now I know this may sound stupid for a video game, but traditionally adequate. This could be the shortest phase.
3rd Phase: Nothing but Warrior!!
Again everything done as a team. This phase will focus mainly on WAR. The after Boot events.
To get this experience in a game would be amazing.
