I hate it when my phone dies and there's no charger around. The stress of wondering if my phone will die before I am able to take that important call can be unnecessary.
I propose a phone that has a power-saving "stand-by" mode, which uses so little power that it can be charged by shaking the phone and through solar panels. There would be a smaller second lithium battery which is only charged by these means, to avoid damaging the primary battery. The secondary-battery mode would not light up any LEDs will cause the screen to be very dim, and will disable the speaker and other non-essentials.
