An electronic notepad. We have all seen those digital pens that record your movements so that you can put on paper. Those are pretty cool, but what if you are writing longer materials, like papers, novels, etc?
For a traveling writer an electronic notepad would be must. The technology would not be too hard, like a sophisticated touchscreen, or you could do something with the pen so that its movements made it show up on the screen. Also, a way to erase, so that you can edit.
