A TV Day in Your Life Printer Friendly Version
On dvd, an entire day of tv from a day in the 50's or 60's. Commercials and all. Let's say nyc market. Lots of us old baby boomers from there. I know I was a tv addict. The old cartoons gigantor, astroboy, and 8th man. The soupy sales show. That weird show on channel 5 with the chin puppets. Dawn of sesame street and the spanish stuff. Time tunnel, my mother the car, gunsmoke, my three sons, laugh-in, voyage to the bottom of the sea, hogan's heros, star trek, lost in space, mr, chicken, it's about time, the dating game, dark shadows, real saturday morning cartoons, davy and goliath, twilight zone, the outer limits, ed sullivan...
There were only a handful of channels. 13, 11, 9, 7, 5, 4, and 2. Low res black and white moving to color somewhere in the 70's?
Ok, major legal trouble with copyrights, but that's what lawyers were created from the sewer slime for. The station program records might still exist. the commercials might still exist. Hell, the equipment to play the old format recordings might still exist.
Reward: a copy

Fantasy Movie Studio (like Fantasy Baseball) Printer Friendly Version
Create a "fantasy movie studio" entertainment/subscription site, similar to "fantasy baseball" (a sophisticated prediction game based on the real stats of a live MLB season). Partner with the Internet Movie Database for existing information --rather than collecting your own.
Rather than RBIs and other stats that baseball uses, use stats that apply to the entertainment industry like amount of money each actor brings in per picture, a "diva"/"temperment" scale (for qualitative information that effects quantitative results), etc. to determine how much money a film will bring in for "the team" --i.e., movie studio. Films can be picked from "in production" category in the IMDB. Users could also customize such features as creating their own film studio, negotiating contracts for actors, etc.
With this online entertainment/subscription service you could also build everything on your "team" from the actors to the director to the set designer.
Reward: Free subscription to the service and credit.

Geese for the homeless Printer Friendly Version
Problem #1: During the summer months here in Minnesota, it seems that there is geese everywhere and goose poo everywhere (expecialy in suburban areas). I hear of people going to North/South Dakota and having an unlimited bag limit on their goose harvests (I bet most of the geese they harvest go to waste). It seems that we have a problem with an over-population of geese. It's just gross walking around a metro lake that is peppered with goose sh*t everywhere! We simply dont need all of these geese.
Problem #2: A lot of homeless people and they need food.
Solution: Why don't we have a team of professional certified people that go around in various metro areas and humanely harvest some of these geese. Also set up hunts in the Dakota's that are cheaper for hunters if they donate some of their harvest. If we can thin out some of these geese, maybe we won't have so much wasted game from people bringing home 50 geese from a unlimited bag hunt and not eating it. I certainly don't think that this would really impact the goose population too much if the DNR helps monitor the program. The geese can go to shelters and be served to help feed people in need. Goose certainly isn't like "phesant under glass", but to a hungry homeless person, it has more nutrition and better taste than a dirty sock. Beggars can't be choosers.
Reward: The opportunity to go on a "Donation Hunt" for free.
