Smart Windshield Washer Sensor Printer Friendly Version
Problem: The "intermittent" wiper setting on my car is often not the right speed. When the rain lets up, it's still too fast and the wiper scrapes. When the rain starts to get harder, it's too slow and I can't see. When I slow up or slow down, the wiper speed doesn't.
Solution: Have a small photo sensor sitting inside the window pointing outside, at a place that is covered by the wiper but not in the view of the driver. The photo sensor sends data to a smart processor - that estimates the rain that's hitting the window and adjusts the wiper blade speed. It could "watch" the wiper blade go by to calibrate the settings of a clear, recently wiped window versus the build up of rain drops between wipes.
Reward: Want one.

Insight on the outside Printer Friendly Version
People who stay in apartments/houses/anywhere with boring, depressing or even ugly views through their windows, will benefit from this. A tranquill forest scene or a sandy beach with the usual scenery, there are millions of suitable pictures. Place these pics: Size to extend past window's edges, in an advertising sign board type of frame. Attach this to the wall outside the window, so that the view from inside is now the picture you chose. What if you get bored with that picture? Well remember the old cameras with their roll of film? Use the same concept inside the frame i.e.: a tube on either side of the frame with the picture running across the window from tube to tube. Take it even further. Put a daylight sensitive switch or a timer on the invention, and fill the tubes with 30 different pics on a roll, a new one each day, which automatically changes because of your timer. Wouldn't you like to see a beautiful sunrise over the sea when you open your curtains? OR a tiger drinking water from a mountain stream? The list is endless.
Reward: Send me the blue print of the machine, so that I can have one built for myself.

Heated Wiper Blades Printer Friendly Version
Since you can't add layers of materials inside the glass or run lines of heated metal to heat a wind shield, you must use your inside window defroster. If you had a hot wiper blade that didn't crack your window you could use the cold temperature wiper fluid and then swish it around with heated wiper blades for maximum speed of defrost and then you can turn your defroster to a different setting to heat the inside to help defrost the rest of the windows.
